Gareth’s starring TV role in Parkin’s Patch in 1969 led to him being asked to participate in a variety of events. There was a Beauty Contest for charity in October of that year:

And, a month later, Gareth was chosen to present the main prize in the Yorkshire Post newspaper’s Pick the Spot competition, an occasion that was featured in two articles:
